Reverse logistics
It’s not only the supplier’s logistical processes, customer-wards, that have to be organised in an optimum and cost-efficient manner, the flows from the customer to the supplier can also result in significant costs. This flow is better-known as reverse logistics. Should, for example, the goods be faulty, then proper logistical expertise and experience allow for the speedy collection of the goods from the customer and their shipping back to the EDC. Back at the Centre, the goods are checked and repaired, or individual components are re-assembled, and then once again dispatched. This aspect too requires considerable technical know-how and logistical knowledge that has to be centralised close to the end-user.
