Tianjin company to build pagoda gate

On March 12, Antwerp's Alderman of spatial planning, Mr Ludo Van Campenhout, signed a cooperation agreement with the Representative of the Chinese community in Antwerp, Mr Guojin Liu. The agreement should make way to the installation of a 14 metres high pagoda gate at the entrance of the Antwerp Chinatown district.

"This gate will symbolise the everlasting friendship between Antwerp, its Chinese community and the Chinese people", said Mr Van Campenhout. “London, San Francisco and New York already preceded Antwerp by building such a pagoda gate, but I’m sure ours will be the most beautiful.”

The pagoda gate will be build by the Chinese company Tianjin Metallurgical Planning and designing institute.  The installation of the gate will be projected live at the Belgian pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.
